Development of Interactive Web Modules for Speech Therapy

Dr. Visar Berisha, Assistant Professor in the School of Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering and the Department of Speech and Hearing Science, has a paid position available to work on the Development of Interactive Web Modules for Speech Therapy project for approximately 10 hours per week.

The clinical practice of speech-language pathology is gradually incorporating digital intervention. To date, many of the formerly paper-pencil based therapy activities have been translated to a digital format. The scope of this project is to work closely with a practicing speech-language pathologist to develop and clinically evaluate digital versions of new therapies.

The student will gain experience in:

  • technical web programming
  • basic signal processing
  • speech therapy techniques

Students must be proficient in HTML5 programming, be creative, and self-directed. Dr. Berisha would support a future FURI proposal.
