The Robotics and Intelligent Systems Laboratory (RISELab) is a multidisciplinary laboratory that focuses on research and development of modeling, analysis, and control of various robotic systems. One of our current focus is to discover engineering principles and designs that will guide the development of new approaches for wearable sensors and robotics for gait assistance and rehabilitation.
We are currently seeking highly motivated BS students with a passion for wearable sensors and robotics, to work on design and manufacturing of a knee exoskeleton for gait assistance. We are seeking applicants interested in (but not limited to) the following areas:
Mechanical Engineering –Robotics- Mechatronics– Biomechanics
Prospective candidates should send an email to Dr. Wenlong Zhang at Wenlong.Zhang@asu.edu, with their contact information, an updated resume, and unofficial transcripts to demonstrate their competences. Accepted students may be hired as an REU and are expected to participate in weekly group meetings, actively work on the assigned research projects and contribute to writing research reports and papers. The positions will be based on the Polytechnic campus.
- In order to be considered for the REU position, the student must be a US citizen or permanent resident.
- Students with background in one or more of the following areas are encouraged to apply: wearable sensors and robots, mechanical parts design and manufacturing, CAD (SOLIDWORKS), bio-mechanical analysis, and programming (Matlab, Python).
Semester(s) or start/end date of position: Students can start now (Spring 2021) and continue in subsequent semesters
Number of hours per week: Vary from 20 hours to 30 hours
